Breathing silence

Admittedly, Torre Annunziata is a city very noisy, loud, exaggerated and frantic. A city where everything is amplified, it seems to live on the edge of a megaphone. Too often depart from the barracks next door yelling the Panthers of the police, too often, screaming, dirty, angry, mix the sound of the horn. The whirling blades of a helicopter they rattle the windows of the hall ... are looking for someone ... someone is going to be arrested. And there it is, I already see his family in full force, deployed on sidewalk in front of the barracks, ready to burn the words of hatred for the 'injustice' done. Yes, Torre is a noisy city, loud, exaggerated and frantic. Yet at night, when you look out from the balcony for a cigarette fumarti, something special. The silence is palpable, tangible, and it breathes. The only sounds audible are those that you hide the day, then you can feel the burn drummino map of each shot, muffled the flow of smoke, tap your fingers to drop the ashes. Maybe this is also why I prefer the silent darkness lively light. The darkness is not only changing the face of the city, but the silences as well. Black silence comforts you, looks after you, you cradle, spurs the imagination.
What's better than the black ink to create colorful patterns?

Hark! A Vagrant

For some 'of years now comic strips are having some success, especially on the Internet depopulated. Have been so many sites offering only material of this type.

One of the most famous is Explosm.com, but I do not stop to talk about in what has already been done by SophieK. in his post that you find here .

Let me tell you instead of "Hark! To Vagrant" of Kate Beaton , The site collects the strips of this Canadian girl graduated in History and Anthropology. Not by chance that most of its cartoon characters and focuses on facts about history or literature, this presentation will clarify the cover of ideas

Beaton offers a vision of the characters and historical events in order somewhat distorted and irreverent, mixing reality with nonsense, caricaturing the expressions and gestures, to make it all terribly funny.

So do not be surprised if you find yourself browsing the site in front of Poe and Verne imepgnati in an ambiguous correspondence:

-If the images are too small, click on it to enlarge.

or Pavlov with his bells:

or Marie and Pierre Curie attracted by radioactivity:

then Napoleon was a lot of fun:

also often reinterprets the titles of some books and pictures, here are some examples:

not disdain to treat even the scientific world, and you will see the much-denigrated Tesla, Marconi thief, poor Newton, Kepler cornificato. Charlie Darwin ...

Finally solace in dealing with even more common issues such as the tragedy of BP, the idiocy of a strange cat, a neurotic deputy, and so on:

The thing that struck me most of the cartoons The expressions can give to his characters. These classic images that make you laugh even on their own, estranged from the context:

Someone even thought to animate the cartoons:)

Here are other videos

Finally, I recently found out that was also released his book that collects all the material, the title speaks volumes: Never Learn anything form history

So Hark! A Vagrant was a very pleasant surprise. Enjoy it:)

Ah! I was forgetting the gay San Francisco!
